Fiber cable marker accessories for buried cable are essential. Since fiber optic cable isn’t normally detectable by buried cable detectors, it’s important to identify buried fiber to avoid accidental damage.

Marker Ball

Marker balls are ideal for marking fiber cable in high-voltage environments. When excited by any standard marker locator, the marker ball produces a 5-foot spherical RF field, identifying the presence of fiber cable below. Because the RF field is spherical, the marker ball does not require any particular orientation when buried. It fits easily into a standard 4-inch trench with no extra digging.

Marker balls should be buried 12-24 inches below grade level. Because Markers use industry standard frequencies, the marker ball is compatible with any locator. When used with marker tape, marker balls make locating and identifying buried fiber optic cable much easier.

Marker Tape

3″ x 1000′ roll Marking Tape, both non-Detectable and detectable, is available. The orange tape is marked “CAUTION FIBER OPTIC CABLE BURIED BELOW”. Underground marking tape is buried 12-24 inches below grade level, and warns excavators of a buried fiber optic cable in time to prevent damage and service interruptions.

Non-detectable buried tape provides a strong visual signal that continued digging will damage the lines below.

Detectable buried tape provides BOTH a strong visual signal AND metallic signal that continued digging will damage the lines below.
